The Art of Francis Hamabe
from WABI.tvIn The Art of Francis Hamabe, Maine art’s writer Carl Little chronicles the influence of artist Francis Hamabe, who was one of the most influential artist in Down East Maine during the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s. His exuberance for art was known to many residents, summer and local alike, through his dedication to teaching art, his puppet shows, and the many organizations he either co-founded or supported. Over 70 full-color plates and illustrations highlight Hamabe’s diverse body of work, including paintings, illustrations, drawings, silk screens, wood block prints, and ceramics. Carl Little will be at the Jesup Memorial Library on Thursday, October 18th at 7 p.m. for a presentation about The Art of Francis Hamabe. Sherman’s Book Store will be on hand with books for purchase and signing by the author.
