Nurses, lactation consultants, childbirth educators, doulas, dietitians, midwives, physicians and all persons working with breastfeeding mothers.  This is also an opportunity for peers in the maternal/child health field to network.

OUR PRESENTERS
 
Liz Brooks, JD, IBCLC, FILCA, is a lawyer and private practice lactation consultant who brings to life the connection between lactation consultation and the law.  Liz is the President of the International Lactation Consultant Association, a Board member for the United States Breastfeeding Committee, and active in her local USLCA chapter PRO-LC.  Liz is a Fellow of the international Lactation Consultant Association.  With plain language and humor, Liz explains how IBCLCs and other breastfeeding helpers can work ethically and legally.  She offers pragmatic tips that can immediately be used in daily practice.
 
Robyn Roche-Paull has been working with breastfeeding mothers for over 12 years and has been and IBCLC since 2006.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Maternal Child Health with specialization in Lactation.  Robyn is the Past Area Professional Liaison for La Leche League of Virginia/West Virginia, and is a Board member of MiLCA (Military Lactation Consultants Association); she is also the Secretary for TALCA (Tidewater Area Lactation Consultant Association). Robyn is the author of “Breastfeeding in Combat Boots”, a resource for military mothers choosing to breastfeed.  She is a veteran of the US Navy with experience breastfeeding on active duty.
 
Melinda M. Rathkopf, MD, FAAAAI, FACAAI, FAAP, is a physician at the Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Center of Alaska and is board certified in allergy/immunology and pediatrics.  She has been practicing in Anchorage since July 2006.  Dr. Rathkopf has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, and is a nationally recognized speaker.  She is currently President of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, Alaska Chapter.  Dr. Rathkopf earned her medical degree at Emory University School of Medicine before joining the military.  She spent nine years in the United States Air Force, completing her pediatric residency at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi and her allergy/immunology fellowship at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland AFB (San Antonio, TX).
 
PARKING
The Hilton Hotel is offering overnight valet parking at $24.00 and event day parking at $11.00.

BABIES
Because of the professional nature of this offering, quiet infants under the age of 6 months are welcome. However, restless infants will require immediate attention outside the meeting room as a courtesy to other participants and for the comfort of the baby.  Some mothers bring a support person to provide baby care outside the meeting rooms to fully participate in the education sessions.

REFUNDS
A $50 processing fee will be charged for refunds.  Refunds will not be given after April 1, 2013.  Checks must be postmarked by April 15, 2014.
