Swan Day Monologue Jam

from Alacrity Project

Swan Day is an international holiday facilitated by WomenArts.org, to support women in arts. Events occur around the world during the months of March and April. Alacrity Project's Swan Day Monologue Jam features women (and men) who have a message to share (through monologue, dance & song) about being a woman, and femininity. In this show artists share their take on: What does it mean to be a woman? and What is femininity? Participate in individual artists’ ongoing exploration towards knowing and recognizing a woman’s true value, purpose & function.

Alacrity Project was founded in 2006 to create performance opportunities for actors. The group has produced full length plays tackling current issues such as war, the dynamics of city living, the environment, and the economy. In the past two years Alacrity has focused on producing Monologue Jams, a popular way for performers to get up on stage, work out their material, receive a professional video-recording of their work, and meet like-minded and supportive artists.
