Sunday Art Club

Art clubs during the school year are for all ages. Start time is 1:30 p.m., and the meet up is an open studio format, meaning you can use the full time allotted or leave when you finish your project. Arts Clubs are funded in part by a City of Auburn K-12 Arts Education Outreach Grant.
January 12 – Printmaking After taking a look at the works on view in Ganando la Vida, students will create prints of people at work, using the lithographic process.
January 26 – Photography Shared Vision will allow kids to see the wide range of methods and subjects photographers examine. We’ll do the same, taking photographs and sharing on the JCSM Facebook and Flickr pages.
February 9 – Jerome Myers (dolls) Jerome Myers was inspired by the hope of the young people in the neighborhoods of New York City. In this session, students will create dolls for themselves, or for others.
March 2 – Food Fight Vik Muniz photographs recreated art classics using ketchup, chocolate syrup, and salt and pepper, along with images of cotton balls that look like clouds that look like other items (like snails!). Come to this session to play with your food, and make fine art with yummy ingredients.
March 16 – Write art What do artists do with words? This session will focus on the power of words, both in the visual arts, and in creative writing activities.
April 13 – Stuff for pets Do you have a kitty? A puppy? Ferret? Bring in a picture and make a portrait of your pet. Also, use materials to create fun toys for your furry/scaled family members.
April 27 – Arbor Day Trees are cool! Let’s paint landscapes and trees together! (from )
