Sticks & Stones: Lin Lisberger and Camille Davidson. Exhibition
from Rachel McDonaldSeptember 19-November 1
Sticks and Stones: Lin Lisberger and Camille Davidson brings together two artists who make deeply personal works through their contemplative absorption with natural materials. During a residency in Nova Scotia, Brunswick-based artist Camille Davidson became fascinated with the stones along the shorelines of the Bay of Fundy. Exhibiting their geological history in different shapes, colors, textures, and striations, these “stone stories,” as Davidson calls them, are an inexhaustible subject for her paintbrush. In her Portland studio, Lin Lisberger carves sculptures that retain the attributes of the local and native wood with which she works. Her “Bridge to a New Me” series, which was created after the death of her mother, gives symbolic form to life’s painful disruptions and its unforeseen opportunities. (from )
