When life throws you challenges that feel overwhelming, do you feel disoriented, on the edge of panic? You’ve lost your inner compass. You can’t find your path. Metaphorically, you’re lost in the woods.

One of the best ways for learning to manage those challenges is to actually get lost in the real forests of Rowe and then find your way out -- safely, in the daytime, with a companion, and under the guidance of experienced wilderness expert Frank Grindrod, who will teach you skills that not only can save your life, but also change it, giving you new-found self-assurance, clarity, and fearlessness in encountering the unknown. Get hands-on training in “aidless navigation,” moving without a map or compass. Learn how to read the sun and stars. Master basic orienteering. Best of all, learn that you’re capable of staying calm and finding your way -- out of any predicament!

Frank Grindrod is the founder of the Earthwork Wilderness Survival Training School, which has been teaching earth skills such as nature awareness, tracking, wilderness living skills, and earth philosophy since 1999. He is a graduate of Greenfield Community College’s nationally recognized Outdoor Leadership Program and has studied with Tom Brown, Jon Young, Paul Rezendes, and others. He is a facilitator for the Nurtured Heart Approach and also is certified in wilderness first aid.
