Lighthouse Cruise; Legends, Lore & Haunts

from Sally Lobkowicz

Explore the legends and lore of Midcoast Maine's lighthouses, including a shore landing at historic Burnt Island Light, built in 1821. You will enjoy a 3 hour cruise aboard Maine Maritime Museum’s Merrymeeting as you explore the Kennebec, Sassanoa and Sheepscot Rivers.
Your adventure will be guided by Red Cloak Haunted History Tours. Passengers will see up to seven lighthouses, depending on weather and sea conditions, including Doubling Point Light, Hendrick's Head Light, Seguin Island Light, Ram Island Light and The Cuckolds. The visit to Burnt Island will include landing on the island for an up-close look at the restored keeper's house and other facilities, including the majestic Burnt Island Light tower.
As you go back in time with The Lady in the Red Cloak, you’ll learn the stories behind these iconic beacons; about the lives of some of the keepers and their families, legends and haunts of the lights.
The Merrymeeting's professionally trained crew provides a safe, comfortable cruise. Guests are welcome to bring aboard food and non-alcoholic beverages. A cash bar, with light snacks, is available onboard. Ticket prices include admission to the museum. Maine Maritime Museum Members $55; nonmembers $65; children 6 to 12 $34; under 6 $5. Seating is limited; reservations are suggested.
