Jon Mort Port Clyde Open Studio

from Greg

Millennial artist Jon Mort will exhibit his latest creations at “ISLAND WORLDS – Open Studio” on August 6 & 7, 10am to 5pm, Fieldstone Castle in Port Clyde, Maine. Jon hopes to share the unique appreciation for the beauty and challenges of island living that he gained working crew on the Monhegan Boat. As a life long Port Clyde summer resident the surrounding islands hold a strong fascination constantly drawing him to explore and collect the natural treasures and artifacts featured in his artwork.

Recently Jon’s sold out exhibition at the Somerville Manning Gallery in Greenville, DE included many Maine inspired pieces receiving rave reviews. American Art Collector Magazine featured Jon describing his still artwork as “pure expressions forming emotional connections between the viewer and each meticulously rendered object. Mort’s images seize the grace and beauty in every element taking the art of drawing to an entirely new level”.

Jon is also a highly sought after portrait artist capturing the likenesses of many local Maine luminaries. His work has been featured in exhibitions at the Philips Museum, the Portsmouth Museum of Art and the Sandy Spring Museum. Jon received Fine Art and Classics degrees from Franklin and Marshall College, a Masters in Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design and has exhibited his artwork in over twenty gallery and museum venues. The Carla Massoni Gallery and Somerville Manning gallery represent him.

Jon will offer an artist tour and talk on Saturday, August 6th at 1:00 pm. For more information: JonMortStudio.com and 207-372-8658.
