Jazz singer Gregory Porter takes the stage in Mauldin for the first time in April of 2014.  The California-native and Brooklyn-based jazz singer has exploded in the jazz world in recent years.  His first two albums, Water (2010) and Be Good (2012), each earned him a GRAMMY nomination in Jazz and Traditional R&B Performance respectively. In September of 2013, he released his third album, Liquid Spirit on the major jazz label, Blue Note Records.  His last South Carolina show was the 2013 Spoleto Festival USA and since then he has played around the world from England to Japan, Germany, Spain, Portugal and many others.  His booming baritone voice mixed with his innate songwriting skills paired with his extremely talented band (the same musicians to accompany  him on all three albums) set the stage for one, and only one, night of pure jazz bliss.  Do not miss your opportunity to catch this jazz superstar on stage right here in Mauldin - for free.
This concert is a part of the Railroad Concert Series, a program of the City of Mauldin's Office of Cultural Affairs that focuses on providing access to high quality live music and artists for the general public at no cost.
