Edvard Munch – Master Prints

from Victoria

The National Arts Club and its Office of Fine Arts in collaboration with the John Szoke Gallery present, ‘Edvard Munch – Master Prints.' The exhibition is the second installment of the Offices’ fine arts fall program and will show 20 of the famed Norwegian masters unique graphic works, alongside pieces from Picasso and other American contemporaries, including Max Bohm, Bolton Brown, Frank DuMond and Birge Harrison.

Edvard Munch (1863 - 1944) created some of the most visually arresting and psychologically powerful images in the history of art. Though his fame rests largely on one painting; 'The Scream' Munch was an experimental printmaker of astonishing daring and virtuosity. With these works Munch made a lasting contribution to the Modernist movement through his exploration of isolation and existentialism in a radical and original way. While, Munch's paintings are striking, it is his work in the graphic arts that fully conveys his exploration of the interior world of human feelings.
