Central Park Conservancy’s Hallett Nature Sanctuary

from Source Source

Central Park Conservancy is offering a rare opportunity to explore one of the Park’s best-kept secrets, the Hallett Nature Sanctuary, during the most colorful time of year! This self-guided tour will let you meander through the four-acre haven at your own pace and see how the Conservancy has restored and maintained this unique landscape which was closed to the public for decades. Along the rustic trail, visitors will enjoy the full spectrum of fall foliage: golden sugar maple surrounded by a shrub layer of Dogwoods, Sassafras, Viburnums, and Spicebush providing yellows, oranges, and reds. Combined with the evergreen coverage of Rhododendrons, it will provide a stunning display. The area is also ideal for bird watching during the fall migration.
