from Lisa G

Mozart’s glorious Requiem in D minor is the featured masterwork when Ars Musica presents “Mozart’s
Splendid Finale” at 8:00 pm on Saturday, May 30, at Ridgewood United Methodist Church, 100 Dayton Street, Ridgewood, NJ, and at 5:00 pm on Sunday, May 31, at St. John the Baptist Church, 69 Valley Street, Hillsdale, NJ. Conducted by Music Director Dusty Francis, the program is an exploration in music and letters of the final year of Mozart’s life. In addition to the beloved Requiem, the audience will hear the exquisite “Ave Verum Corpus” as well as excerpts from “The Magic Flute,” the String Quintet No. 5 in D major, the Horn Concerto No. 1 in D major, and the Clarinet Concerto in A major. Multi-instrumentalist Susan LaFever will be both the solo hornist and the organist for the concerts. Ms. LaFever is a founding member of the Zinkali Trio and has been called “bold and striking” with “a confident lyric quality” by the New York Times. Saturday's performance in Ridgewood will showcase the talent of Ars Musica's Encore Young Artist Program. Join Maestro Francis and Ms. LaFever for a preconcert discussion offered each evening one hour before the concert. Tickets, available at www.arsmusica.org, are $20 in advance; $25 at the door; under 13 admitted free. Ars Musica has partnered with local restaurants for a dining discount the day of each concert; details are available online.
This program is made possible in part by a grant administered by the Bergen County Division of Cultural & Historic Affairs from funds granted by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Ars Musica is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
